24th MAHLAP Congress and Seminar-Workshop

Dear Fellow Librarians, Information Specialists, and Colleagues:

The Medical and Health Librarians Association of the Philippines (MAHLAP) in cooperation with West Visayas State University Medical Library will be holding its 24th National Congress and Seminar-Workshop on the theme: "Rethinking Services and Spaces: Rebranding Libraries for the 21st Century" on February 29 to March 2, 2012 at the Iloilo Grand Hotel, Iloilo City.
The seminar-workshop's main goal is to expose an array of perspectives about the role of the library in the digital age and the potential for libraries and librarians to meet new needs, and how these needs will influence the way library services are being performed as well as the design of its physical space. To achieve this, the following topics will be presented:

1. Roles of Libraries and Librarians Then and Now: Rethinking the Essence of What We Do.
2. Innovative Strategies and Practices in Library Services: Not Your Same Old Technical Services.
3. Increasing Access to Knowledge and Promoting Effective Use of E-resources.
4. Renovating the Library to Enrich its Atmosphere to Attract Users.
5. Changing Nature of Library Space Requirements to Meet User and Collection Requirement.
6. Library as Hospitable Environment for Reading, Study and Research: Changing Not Just Space But Attitude As Well.
7. Collaborating to Improve Health Information Delivery.
8. Developing an Annual Agenda for the Library: Strategic Planning and Implementation.

The registration fees are as follows:
P5,000 - Live in (Normal Rates). Non MAHLAP Member
P4,500 - Live in. MAHLAP Member/Early Bird
P4,000 - Live out. Non MAHLAP Member
P3,600 - Live out. MAHLAP Member (payment should be made on or before Feb. 14, 2012; otherwise, non-member rate will apply)

The registration fee for Live-in participants includes accommodation (triple sharing), breakfasts, AM/PM snacks, lunches, dinners, conference kits and certificate of participation/attendance. On the other hand, registration fee for Live-out participants includes conference kits, certificate of participation/attendance and meals (AM/PM snacks and lunch). To avail of Early Bird Rates, please settle your payments on or before Feb. 14, 2012.
